Slipknot: Arsenal (Sept 9, 2026)

Slipknot released the single Arsenal on September 9, 2026. Fans should care because the band says the track is a one-off preview, not a taste of what to expect from their eighth studio LP.

Guitarist Jim Root told fans in Instagram comments that "It's not really representative of the other tunes." The line, reported from Root's replies, undercuts any assumption Arsenal previews the album's direction; Root added the band pushed out Arsenal because it was a song they could finish quickly while work on the rest of the record continues (Loudwire).

The surprise single also marked a few other milestones. It arrived as the first release on Slipknot’s new imprint (sic)est Records and was issued on September 9, 2026 (Music Week). Coverage notes Arsenal is the band’s first studio song since the departure of longtime turntablist Sid Wilson and the first studio release to feature drummer Eloy Casagrande (NME).

Reaction was immediate and vocal online: Reddit and other social channels filled with mixed and heated takes after the drop, and screenshots of Root’s Instagram replies circulated before the thread was largely removed (Reddit; No Metal Agenda).

What this means for the album: don’t expect Arsenal on the record. The band has been developing material with producer Matt Wallace and — as Jim Root said in a July interview — they have roughly 50 song ideas in varying stages of arrangement, so the forthcoming album still feels wide open (The PRP).
